For me, it's very easy to go through life without thinking too much about it. I've never really been one to make long-term plans or think things through. Oh, I'm very good at second guessing myself after the fact and coming up with all the things I should have done. But in this season of life, I'm learning to be proactive instead of reactive.
One thing I'm learning is that when you have a goal, it's important to have a Why attached to that goal. Why are you working so hard? What is your motivation behind what you're doing? It's also important to remember that the Why you have when you start something may not necessarily be the Why as you move through the process. The Why can change and that's ok.
My Why with real estate is a lot of things - some are for others and some are completely selfish, which is also ok.
I've been a renter for most of my life so most of the places I've lived haven't really felt like mine. But when I did buy a house, it felt different. I painted every wall in that house a different color, because I was so tired of white walls and being told I couldn't paint them. I want other people to feel that same freedom about where they live. That it's theirs and they have the freedom to paint walls or not paint walls, carpet or hardwood, landscape or pull it all and cover the lawn with rock. I want it to be YOUR CHOICE!
Selfishly, I'd like to see little kids smile when the pick out their rooms. Or a dog get excited about a fenced in yard so he doesn't always have to be on a tether. And the satisfaction the adults have that they're able to give this to their family.
I mean, I'd also like to be able to get a facial whenever I want.
What's your goal and your why? Have you thought about it? Write it down. Put it on your bathroom mirror. Look at it. See it. Think about it. And make it happen.
